Mariette Paalvast

Mariette Paalvast (born October 4, 1957) followed the Health Care training in 1976. In 1990 she also obtained her diploma Medical Secretary.

As a child she drew a lot and wrote stories about it. When she was 16 years old, she wrote a paper on evolution. Drawings were made. The same goes for 3 skulls. As inventive as she was, she set these drawings on fire to make them look very old. (she blew it out in time of course) Due to circumstances at home, she was unfortunately unable to attend the art academy.

In 2014 she took lessons in magical realism with a fine painter. The fine art is reflected in her work as well as the realism. In 2015 she makes her 1st oil painting with the help of her master. (She had already made a portrait on the wrong paper and with cheap paint.) It was a colored child, after which she made another colored child 4 years later with the help of the internet. Here you can see the development well.

About February 2021 she took up the pencil. Well, the pastel pencil that she really likes. She uses pastel pencils from Carandache, Faber Castell and Stabilo Carbothello. Clairefontaine's pastel mat as background.

Because she works very realistically, it can take several weeks to several months to complete a painting. Mariette's slogan is "Do as much as possible what makes you happy"!
